"Á la conquête du Pôle" is Méliès at his finest. It has all of the rhythm, pace, and the technical polish of his most accomplished films, as well as being a compilation of many of his favorite themes and devices. No other extant film is more lively and satisfying. Never modest about his accomplishments, Méliès later bragged about his having invented the helicopter long before the fact and having reached the Pole by way of his films: "I intervened in the controversy between Cook and Peary. Both pretended to have reached the Pole. In fact I don't think either one did. I said to myself, I'm going to go there."
 
"Á la conquête du Pôle" es el mas fino estilo Méliès. Tiene todo el ritmo, velocidad, y el pulimiento técnico de sus mas logrados filmes, a la vez que es una compilación de muchos de sus temas y artefactois favoritos. Ninguno otro de sus filmes existentes es más vivido y satisfactorio. Jamas modesto de sus logros, Méliès despues alardeaba sobre el hecho de haber inventado el helicóptero mucho antes de que esto ocurriera y de haber llegado al Polo por medio de sus películas: "Yo intervine en la controversia entre Cook y Peary. Ambos pretendian haber llegado al Polo. De hecho no creo alguno lo haya hecho. Me dije a mi mismo, tengo que ir ahi."

Text in French. This collector card was published in France to celebrate the first Centenary of the birth of Méliès. Is a beautiful portrait with the commemorative stamp attached canceled with a seal dated April 23, 1961 "Centenaire de Geoges Méliès, Montruil (Seine)". In the back is a brief biography in French.
 
Esta tarjeta postal coleccionable fué publicada en Francia para celebrar el primer Centenario del nacimiento de Méliès. Es un bello retrato con la estampilla postal pegada y cancelada con el sello fechado Abril 23 de 1961 "Centenario de Georges Méliès, Montruil (Seine)". Al reverso tiene una breve biografía en Frances.
 
 
 
Rare 1912 BOND ISSUED BY THE LEGENDARY PATHE

Charles Pathe was to the history of recording and movies in Europe what Edison was to the same in America. Not only did the Pathe brothers invent or improve myriad cinematic and
phonographic techniques, they were probably the most prolific producers of content in the early to mid-twentieth century. The company was one of the principal Méliès films distributors on the last stage of their productions.
 
The present "cent francs" is one original 1912 "Compagnie Générale des Etablissements Pathé Frerès Phonographe & Cinematographie" bond with 8 out of the first row of 10 coupons still attached. The bond has 7 large fancy company logos in red or blue and 8 small red ones on the coupons. It has a vivid blue kaleidoscope pattern border with a white and golden fawn underprint. The bold title floats on a bed of light blue clouds to the left of which appears a French tax stamp with Liberte holding staff and scale. This bond is the Number 101.041 dated August 27, 1912, with amortization seals from 1921, 1922 and 1923.
 
 
Charles Pathé, y los hermanos Pathé, no solo mejoraron las técnicas fotográficas y cinemáticas de la época, sino que fueron tambien de los mas prolificos productores de contenido desde principios y hasta mediados del Siglo veinte. La compañia fué una de las principlaes distribuidoras de los filmes de Méliès en la ultima étapa de su vida productiva.
 
La presente acción de cien francos es original de 1912 emitida por la "Compagnie Générale des Etablissements Pathé Frerès Phonographe & Cinematographie", con 8 de sus 10 cupones aun sin despegar. La impresión tiene 7 elegantes logos de la empresa en rojo y en azul y 8 mas pequeños en los cupones. Tiene un vivido patrón caleidoscópico color azul en el borde con una cama de impresion en blanco y oro. El titulo principal flota en una cama de nubes azules, a la derecha aparece la marca de impuestos francesa con la Liberté levantando una balanza. Esta acción es la número 101.041 fechada el 27 de Agosto de 1912, con sellos de amortización de 1921, 1922 y 1923.

The book featured some essays and illustrations, but the most interesting are some monographic list of Méliès cartoons and drawings on "La Griffe" (1889-1890), a list of magic tricks on Théatre Robert-Houdin (1888-1910), an filmography and a list of his drawings and designs.
 
Exposición organizada por La Cinémathèque Française, Musé du Cinema y L'Union Centrale des Arts Décoratifs en el Pavillon de Marsan del Palais du Louvre.
 
El libro incluye algunos ensayos e ilustraciones, pero lo mas interesante son algunas lista monográficas de caricaturas y dibujos de Méliès en "La Griffe" (1889-1890), una lista de trucos de magia en el Théatre Robert-Houdin (1888-1910), una filmografía aproximada y una lista de sus dibujos y diseños.

Editado con la ayuda de algunas instituciones gubernamentales y de cultura. El folleto que lo acompaña incluye descripciones de las películas con textos de Edgar Soberón.

This vintage magazine drawing shows the fancy stage border on the Robert-Houdin Théatre, and the Geo. Mélies seal under an elegant "meliesquic" magician perform a trick on the center. Around the magician are stars with the names of some film distributors in Europe. This drawing is signed by "Jeanléger" on the lower right corner.
 
Procedencia: Perteneció a la Colección Privada de Maurice Bessy. Comprado a un coleccionista francés.
 
Este antigüo recorte de una revista francesa muestra el adornado contorno del escenario del Teatro Robert-Houdin, y el sello de Geo. Méliès bajo un elegante mago haciendo un truco en el escenario central. Alrededor del mago estan estrellas con los nombres de algunas de las principales distribuidoras de películas en Europa de esa época. Esta firmado por Jeanléger en la esquina inferior derecha.
